Overview
Sara Malagón Llano holds an MFA in Creative Writing in Spanish from NYU and a BA in Literature and Philosophy at Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá. She has taught Elementary and Intermediate Spanish at Columbia University and NYU. While in New York, she also worked with Ugly Duckling Presse, an independent publishing house based in Brooklyn, and as a copy editor for HarperCollins Español.
Before moving to the U.S., she served as an advisor to the plenary of commissioners at Colombia’s Truth Commission, and she worked as a journalist and editor for publications such as El Espectador, Semana, and ARCADIA magazine. Her research interests include contemporary Latin American literature, Latin American studies, postcolonial theory, environmental humanities, and memory.
